Black horizon in a precarious balance.

31 dismissed tools, black smoke, coins in balance and wall.

2013

During walks and drifts along the doors of the periphery of Paris and also by meeting some unemployed construction workers, I started to collect old and discarded tools which were crashed into the walls of the gallery in a horizontal line. In the extreme of each tool a pile of coins is placed in balance. Every time that the coins fall down new pieces need to be replaced in the same balance, focusing on the idea of speculation. The piece, in a semantic way, talk about the unbalanced equation between work and value. Here the violence gesture and the fragile balance is in position as the existing tension between opposite conceptions of work and value, production and costs.
